A former standout track athlete, Allison’s left leg was amputated due to bone cancer. She was able to live out her childhood dream of being an Olympic athlete when she took home a gold medal in the 100m freestyle in the 1996 Paralympic Games. Allison still holds the American record in this event. She is also happily married.
