Amberley was born in California, the second of six kids. She started riding horses at the age of three and took riding lessons every week. At the age of seven, the family moved to Utah and she got her first horse. Rodeo soon became her passion and she was very successful, winning many saddles, buckles, and championships. She also served as State President of the Utah Future Farmers of America. On January 10, 2010, she was driving through Wyoming when she looked down to check her map and veered off the road into a fence post on the side of the freeway resulting in a broken back at the T-12 vertebrae. The thought of paralysis was daunting but not riding again was simply not an option. It took a while to convince her doctors but four months after the accident she was back on a horse with her back brace on and straps tying her to the saddle. Soon after she was competing in barrel racing and rodeos and leading the Utah State women’s team as captain competing in barrel racing and breakaway roping. She has also pursued a career in motivational speaking.
