Arthur dreamed of playing for the USC football team. His dreams were realized in 1978 when he was recruited to play for the Trojans. One week after the start of summer practice, a man fleeing from police hit Arthur in a stolen automobile. After intensive rehabilitation, he assisted the Oceanside and Buena Vista High School football teams. After a 13-year absence, Arthur returned to USC and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s in education. Arthur passed away in 2009. He will always be remembered as an honorable and inspirational Trojan and the Swim With Mike family will miss him dearly.
