Profile

Dwight Pritchett

Baseball was the sport Dwight first chose to play in the summers as a child growing up in Compton, CA. Then came swimming, and not long after came basketball and then his favorite sport, football, because he liked the strength training that accompanied it. He was injured in September 2005 and paralyzed from the chest down. He thought his “dreams truly seemed to be just dreams, unreachable, imaginary and impossible to accomplish.” But, in the face of obstacles, he never lost his happy spirit, optimism, fight and unwavering belief that he had a purpose in this world to realize.

He began studying at El Camino Community College, believing that he could eventually pick up a pencil and write, a task he had been told was impossible. He was accepted to USC and graduated with a BS in business administration in 2013. Before his injury he worked as a member of the California Conservation Corps and trained with the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection. He has worked as a real estate commercial analyst and personal banker and was recently accepted into USC’s accelerated master’s program in real estate development. Dwight enjoys reading and is interested in learning Spanish and French.
