Kris played volleyball, basketball, and softball in high school and was on the Barton Community College softball team when a car accident left her with a spinal cord injury at the T-10 level and subsequent paralysis. Her dreams of going on to play softball at a four-year school were dashed but her Swim with Mike scholarship allowed her to complete her B.A. in Psychology at Nebraska Wesleyan in the spring of 2005. Kris is currently taking a year off and intends to pursue a Masters degree in criminology starting in the fall of 2006.
