Profile

Olivia Northcutt-Wyly

While an elementary and middle school student in Dallas, TX, Olivia was an age group-ranked swimmer in butterfly, freestyle and backstroke.  She was diagnosed with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and many reconstructive surgeries later, the condition progressed resulting in wheelchair usage by the time she was a high school sophomore. In 2019, a cardiologist diagnosed her with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), a common comorbidity of Ehlers Danlos. Through these challenges she developed into a champion debater and was awarded a USC Trojan Debate Squad tuition scholarship for excellence in collegiate debate.

In 2022, she was one of 20 undergraduates selected from an international pool to the Stanford Law Scholars Institute mentorship and law preparation program. She also contributes to her Los Angeles community by coaching young children in wheelchair basketball and sitting volleyball. She recently found the joys of swimming again and trains in an adaptive program. Olivia received a BS in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention from USC while also working on a Master of Public Health.
