Abigail Bennett
Abby grew up in the heart of Utah’s ski country and spent the winters skiing with her family. She also played team sports such as soccer and lacrosse. On February 14, 2011 at the age of fourteen Abby suffered a T12/L1 spinal cord injury due to a skiing accident. While adapting to life as a paraplegic Abby found the National Ability Center in Park City and learned to monoski, waterski and scuba dive. She also threw herself into her studies and was honored as Jordan High School’s Sterling Scholar in Science and as a member of the National Honor Society. She also participated in A Cappella and Virtuosa choir, taught piano lessons and volunteered many hours helping others. Abby loves singing and playing her guitar. She also loves to travel and is planning on studying abroad in London. Every month she volunteers in at a Physical Therapy school to help teach the students about treating patients with spinal cord injuries. Abby is majoring in biology and hopes to go on to medical school.
