Andrew was raised in Jamaica and migrated to the US when he was ten years old. He was a competitive swimmer and tennis player up until his injury. Now he focuses his time on recovery, career and assisting the disabled community. Andrew earned a B.S. in Advertising from the University of Florida. At the age of 21, while working in Cancun, Mexico Andrew became paralyzed from the chest down because of a spontaneous spinal hematoma caused by an AVM. Doctors told him that he would never walk again but with dedication and perseverance, he regained a great deal of movement. Today he can walk with a cane. Andrew found Swim With Mike late in his education and will receive the scholarship money for only one semester until he graduates. He will remain a lifetime member of the Swim With Mike family and intends to contribute in many ways to help others.
