Christian was always an athletic person. His primary and best sport was cross country. He also enjoyed a lot of other outdoor activities such as dirt bike riding. On November 23, 2008 Christian was in the desert on a weekend trip, riding motorcycles with his family. He crashed his bike breaking his back and leaving him paralyzed at the T-10 level. With the help and support of his classmates and members of the community, Christian was able to attend intense physical training at Project Walk and Awakenings Health Institute. His goal is to once again regain control of his muscles and walk again. Through Project Walk Christian met Project Walk founder and Swim With Mike Board of Directors member Mike Thomas, who recommended that he apply for a Swim With Mike scholarship. Christian graduated from Mission Hills High School and continues his studies at California State University, San Marcos.
