Jay Robinson-Duff
Jay began playing team sports at the age of four, first with soccer, followed by basketball, baseball, skiing, swimming, and tennis. While a freshman at the University of San Diego, Jay took a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class and became passionate about the sport, earning a blue belt in December of 2012. While studying abroad in France on January 5, 2013, Jay suffered from an intracranial hemorrhage. The bleeding was caused by an Arterio-Venous Malformation and resulted in a stroke. Jay remained in the hospital for 23 days before returning to the states for rehabilitation. Jay was about to start his last semester as an engineering major while working at an internship at an aerospace company and at USD telefunding. This whole ordeal has unequivocally solidified Jay’s desire to contribute his talents to the medical community with hopes to design medical devices after college.
