Profile

Jon Plazcz

Jon grew up in a very athletic family and learned to skate before he could walk. Hockey was his sport and he played year round while dabbling in baseball and football. In high school he was encouraged to try lacrosse and ended up winning the Minnesota High School Lacrosse State Championship, the first state champions ever for his school. After high school graduation he went to work for his dad's construction company and was able to get a try out for a junior hockey team. After three years at the junior level he earned himself a spot on the University of Wisconsin-Stout hockey team and a major in Construction Management. In the summer following his freshman year a moped accident on August 7, 2016 resulted in a spinal cord injury and paralysis. While working on his rehabilitation at Craig Hospital Jon learned about Swim With Mike and was encouraged to apply for a scholarship. Jon continues to pursue a bachelors degree in Construction Management with revised goal to specialize in ADA consultation to allow individuals with disabilities to live and work barrier free.
