His accident occurred on Nov. 5, 2016, when he fell off a balcony in Gatlinburg, TN during his sophomore year at Wofford. After the accident, Mack was transferred to the Shepherd Center in Atlanta. There he received exceptional rehabilitation and was introduced to the sport of wheelchair basketball.Since his injury, he has been exposed to a myriad of adaptive sports including cycling, surfing, and water skiing and has excelled. Wheelchair basketball led him to move out of state to Auburn University to play while studying Accounting. While on a trip to California to visit the wonderful city of San Diego with his mother and uncle he met Bill Walton who along with Swim With Mike Alum Patrick Ivison and board members Betsy and Mike Thomas encouraged him to apply for a Swim With Mike scholarship.
