Sharon was an active young lady who excelled in her physical as well as mental pursuits. She ran on Glendora High School’s cross country team, graduated with honors and was admitted to UCLA as a freshman where she joined the Theta Kappa Phi Sorority. One year later she fell four stories off a balcony, breaking her neck, resulting in paralysis at the C-5,6,7 level. She spent nearly a year in outpatient rehab at Casa Colina, where a fellow spinal cord injury patient and Swim With Mike Scholarship Recipient, Jennifer Boulahoud, recommended that she apply for the scholarship. Sharon transferred to the University of La Verne to be closer to home. She is majoring in biology with a pre-med concentration in hopes of following up with a career in medicine.
